Visiting Kingsteignton URC for the first time? You’re in the right place.
We know that visiting a church for the first time can feel a bit daunting, especially if you’re not sure what to expect. This page is here to help you feel at ease before you even walk through the door.
Whoever you are, and wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
What time is worship?
Our more traditional-style Sunday worship starts at 10:30 a.m. and usually lasts about an hour.
We gather to pray, sing, and reflect on what faith means in everyday life. These services are led by a ordained or lay person. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, sometimes using a screen.
We always strive to meet people where they are as we believe God does with everyone.
Whenever you join us, you’ll be warmly welcomed, but never singled out or made to feel uncomfortable.
What should I wear?
Whatever you feel most comfortable in! Some people come dressed up in their “Sunday best,” others prefer jeans and a t-shirt. It’s entirely up to you. With us, there’s no dress code. Just be you.
What happens when I arrive?
You’ll be greeted at the door by one of our friendly greeters, who can answer any questions and help you find a seat if you like. If you arrive a few minutes early, you’ll probably hear the buzz of conversation and maybe the sound of music being played through the building.
After the service, we share tea and coffee (and biscuits!). This is a very casual time and a great chance to meet people and get to know the community a little better.
Can I come if I’m not sure what I believe?
Absolutely. Kingsteignton URC is a safe place to explore faith without judgement. We believe that questions, doubts, and curiosity are all part of a living faith. You don’t need to have it all figured out—just bring an open heart.
What’s the worship like?
Our services include prayers, hymns, Bible readings, and a short reflection or sermon. Hymns are usually traditional, but with a relaxed and inclusive feel. Communion is celebrated monthly, and everyone is invited to take part or to simply sit quietly and reflect if you prefer.
Is there something for children or families?
Children and families are always welcome! We know that little ones sometimes make noise or move about and we encourage them to be who they are. Faith and curiosity begin early, and we’re glad for their presence among us. We set up a table with child-friendly resources at the back, not so that families feel left out, but so that they don’t feel like all eyes are on them. We hope that set up allows parents and children to relax and be themselves.
Is the church accessible?
We are actively working on this. There is step-free access to the building, a more accessible toilet, and on-site parking. We have discovered some limitations to our current toilets and are in the process of undergoing building works to improve it. If you have any specific accessibility needs, please get in touch—we’ll be glad to help.
Where is the church?
You’ll find us at the end of the car park beside “The Old Chapel” on Church Street, right in the heart of Kingsteignton.
There’s also parking close by, and we’re an easy walk from several bus stops (the one outside LIDL being the closest) through town.
What if I’m looking for something more informal?
We host several relaxed gatherings where faith and friendship come together—like our Come As You Are Café, Faith and Film Club, and Sacred Sites Group.
These are great ways to get to know people in a smaller setting. You can learn more about them on our Church Life page.
How can I get in touch?
